How to Use the Phish Alert Button
Purpose: To instruct users on how to report a phishing email using the Phish Alert Button.
The Information Services department has recently enabled a new Outlook tool for reporting phishing emails. The Phish Alert Button, or PAB, will be enabled on your Outlook application within the next few days. Once you receive the add-in, it will be easier than ever to report suspicious phishing emails. Here’s a quick guide on how to use the button:
- With the email highlighted in the preview pane, click the Phish Alert Report button in your Quick Access Toolbar:
- When the Phish Alert pane appears, click the Phish Alert button at the bottom of the pane:
You can also find this button in the Outlook Web App (outlook.office365.com), by opening the email, and clicking the three-dot icon in the top-right corner of the email:
This tool is also available in the Outlook mobile app. Open the email and tap on the three dot icon in the top-right corner:
Using this tool will instantly report the email to the I.S. Help Desk and Microsoft, to ensure that these emails are cataloged and correctly handled. Please use this option to report phishing emails from now on. You are no longer required to forward any phishing emails, this button does all of the work for you.
